From Waffle to Cone

Is there any smell better than that of a waffle cone being made?   Well, I’d say that at the very least it’s got to be in the top five of delicious smells, right up there with cinnamon rolls baking in the oven.  There’s something about it that no matter how old you are, you feel like a kid again.

I took these photos the other day at Hot & Cold, the newest addition to the Bongo World Enterprises. If you live in Nashville, go there.  Now.  And good luck deciding between hot chocolate so rich and thick it’s like nothing you’ve ever tasted, or perhaps a creamy caramel paleta dipped in a shot of espresso, or a scoop of Jeni’s ice cream, quite possibly the greatest ice cream ever and I say that without an ounce of exaggeration (Brown Butter Almond Brittle ice cream, anyone?).  It’s a special place that can make you feel like you’re 10 years old again, yet at the same time a little bit sophisticated and even kind of classy.
